Royal Palm Place has welcomed Caruso Ristorante as the newest restaurant tenant to join the Investments Limited family. Originating from Chicago (where they owned another restaurant, Topogigio) owners Lillo and Gina moved to Boca Raton to open Carusos. Although they are new to South Florida, their local roots go back to Gina Carusos grandfather, who in the 1980s owned restaurants in Broward and Palm Beach counties.
Chef-owner Lillo Teodosi will tantalize your taste buds with exquisitely prepared authentic dishes representative of several regions of Italy. Lillo has created a lengthy menu that draws on all regions of Italy, from farro risotto with black truffles and porcini (Lazio) to veal chop Piemontese to braciola di pollo alla Valdostana to sea bass Livornese.
"This new entry in Boca's rather outsized constellation of Italian restaurants stands startlingly above the others. Even jaded New Yorkers will realize something is different when they are greeted effusively at the door by Gina Teodosi, the beautiful half of this husband-wife ownership team. Her husband, Lillo, well made his "chefly" presence felt in the kitchen, and even visited the diners near the end of the meal-- a very nice touch. Our table of six was treated as if we were old regulars. Delicious bread and drinks came out almost immediately-- the service was impeccable, as was the food. Among us, we ordered veal chops, pasta, seafood and more-- each and every dish was presented beautifully and tasted wonderfully. The tiramisu and the cheesecake were homemade and delectable. Even the cappuccino was a cut above. I fully expect this very fine restaurant to achieve food grades of 26 and above when it is fully surveyed. It is indeed special. South Florida will certainly fall in love with it. Too bad we will only visit occasionally as we are from the NYC vicinity said recent visitor Steven Weiser.
Caruso Ristorante is open for lunch and dinner daily and seats about 150 indoors and on the patio. They have nightly dinner specials as well as live entertainment on Wednesday evenings, and are located at 187 S.E. Mizner Boulevard #39 in Royal Palm Place. Phone: 561-367-7488. |
